My mom bought Elliot a lovely little Advent calendar with little cardboard doors that reveal a piece of chocolate when you pop them open. Unfortunately when we opened the first door, it revealed a melted and remolded blob of chocolate. I was ready to go out and buy a replacement calendar when our au pair suggested that she could help Elliot make one. They emerged later in the day with the perfect little calendar, which we promptly hung in the kitchen. She did most of the making, and it turned out beautifully. I filled the little paper pockets (click here for paper folding instructions) with trinkets and treats from the dollar bin at Target.
