Beatrice Grace was born on Monday April 5. In the days leading up to her birth I attempted to complete as much of her room as possible. Unfortunately her bedding is still on back order so the room isn't quite ready for a big reveal. In the mean time I thought you might be interested in seeing a few of the items that now "dress the walls" including three vintage works of art, an antique mirror, and a growth chart.
Although I didn't design her room with a theme in mind, I think if I had to use a theme to describe the room, I would call it "Spring Garden." It seems very fitting for a little girl born the day after Easter. Now for a break-down of the wall decor. I flanked the large window in her room with vintage works of art; a paint by numbers of flowers that I found at a garage sale a couple of years ago, and two needlework pictures of flowers that I found on Etsy (check out Elm Street Village's shop for similar finds). I brightened up the needlework flowers by spray painting the frames bright white.
According to my mother, the white mirror that I hung above the changing table/dresser was a wedding gift from my maternal grandfather to my grandmother. Their marriage was filled with so much love and happiness, making the mirror an very special addition to the room. Not to mention the fact that it fits the design perfectly.
Last, but not least, is a growth chart that hangs by the door to the room. Elliot's nursery had a lovely and elaborate mural, and I felt bad for not painting a mural in Beatrice's room. Given my time limitations I decided to paint a growth chart instead mural the weekend prior to her birth. It was inspired by a collection of Beatrix Potter figurines that were mine and now belong to her.
I have had lots of fun sharing the nursery design with you and I can't wait to show you the room when its finally complete. Don't expect too many posts for a couple of weeks, I don't think I'll have much time to tackle new projects.
