Endless Summer

Do you feel it too? Summer slowly winding down. I have always loved late summer, when the heat hangs in the air and children hang on to each ounce of daylight in the hopes that they can some how make the summer last a little bit longer. One of my favorite summer memories is of playing kick the can after dinner on our cul-de-sac. The rule was that we had to go inside when the street lamps came on. We would have played all night if they had let us.

I have been enjoying the Summer Song Favorites series on NPR that asks people (celebrities, musicians, authors, etc.) to talk about the one song that reminds them the most of summer. What makes me think of summer is not so much a song, but a collection of memories including - chasing fire flies, sun dresses, ice tea, sleep away camp, lounging on the beach at Hilton Head Island, climbing the magnolias in Aiken, eating dinner on the back porch, and mango sorbet at the coffee shop by my house.

As you probably figured out today's favorite's post is my little way of prolonging and celebrating summer. Enjoy!
