The bookcase I made over for her room was purchased at Tuesday Morning and the fabric "pockets" were made of a very flimsy low quality material. Also, instead of a natural wood finish mine was red. The bookcase was very easy to make over. After carefully taking it apart, I spray painted it white. I used the existing fabric as a template to make the new "pockets". Basically, the "pockets" are a long fabric rectangle with channels sewn into it (every 12 inches). Thick dowels run through the channels and screw into the sides of the case - holding it together and forming the pockets.
I like this style of bookcase for a number of reasons. It doesn't take up a lot of space, its easy for little ones to find and put away their favorite books, and it adds a pop of color to the room.
