A Little Wristlet

I haven't been the most loyal Iron Crafter lately. A craft a week doesn't sound like much, but it can be hard to squeeze in. I jumped back in this week with a simple little project. The challenge was to craft something with buttons.

My daughter (age 15 months) is obsessed with my purses! To help keep her out of my things I have been whipping up little pint sized purses just for her. My latest creation needed a little embellishing - and I thought buttons would do the trick. I didn't like the colors of any of the buttons I had on hand, so I spray painted a bunch. I was really happy with the results and I think they are the perfect embellishment for her new little wristlet. Recognize the fabric?

To prevent drips and pools of paint, I used tooth picks poked through a foam tray to prop up the buttons. Now that I know how easy it is to change the color of buttons I may be using them to craft more often!

Ready for paint

Now we're on the same page

For those of you that would like to make your own little wristlet, I'll be posting the instructions - and long overdue instructions for my baby wipes cover - later this week.

Painting buttons the color you want is brilliant. What paint did you use so it doesn't chip off?

I used Krylon Fusion paint for plastic. Only time will tell how well it holds up. I don't think I'd used it on buttons that are functional and get a lot of use.
