Porch Makeover

So I am thinking about making over my screened-in porch (pictured above). Last week, in preparation to have our house and windows power washed, I had to remove everything from the porch. Seeing it clean and empty is like looking at a blank canvass, which of course makes me want to redecorate. One of my issues with the porch is that it feels very dark, due to the brick wall and dark green floors. I would love to lighten it up and may steal a few ideas from the porches pictured below (1: courtesy of Country Living - photo by Lucas Allen, 2: courtesy of Southern Living - Photo by Michael Partenio, 3: courtesy of Better Homes and Gardens)

I love that they are all bright and airy. I also love the mix of modern and vintage pieces, like wicker paired with Parsons tables. Who knew they could work so well together? What a great clean pallette you have to work from. Great porch! You could drape some fabric panels in bright cheery colors over the dark brick to lighten it up as well as paint the floor in a lighter color. I am sure you already thought of all that. Have fun, great space! kpaints

great space! Karen has a good quick solution, I was thinking the same thing. It is amazing how lightening up the floor can create a dramatic change to lighten things up in the space.

I agree, lightening up the porch is a must. I am also thinking of painting a rug. I like the idea of softening up the brick with fabric. I also was thinking about hanging a bunch of fun vintage plates on part of the wall to break it up a bit. I can't wait to get started :)

I love the idea of a porch swing inside the porch - so relaxing and peaceful. Can't wait to see what you come up with - it's sure to be fabulous!
